Job Description Job Description Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Deaf Education, active DHH teaching certification, and 1+ years Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered. An opportunity is available for a dedicated Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing to provide specialized educational support to students in an elementary school setting serving kindergarten through fifth grade. This contract position runs from January 5, 2026, through June 16, 2026, serving a small caseload of eight students located at the district center within the Virginia Beach area. Key Responsibilities: Deliver tailored instruction and support to students with hearing impairments, enhancing their academic and social development. Collaborate with school staff and families to create individualized education plans (IEPs). Utilize effective communication techniques and assistive technology appropriate for students who are deaf or hard of hearing. Monitor student progress and adjust teaching strategies to meet each student's needs. Qualifications: Active Virginia Department of Education teaching certificate in Deaf/Hard of Hearing education; provisional certificates will be considered. Experience working with elementary-aged students (K-5) who have hearing impairments. Strong interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively with a caseload of eight students. Ability to work full-time (35 hours per week) in a structured school environment. Location:This position is based in the Virginia Beach area and involves working exclusively on-site (no remote or hybrid options available).
